Project #6:

Laurel Canyon Bleached + Rubio Monocoat

This was a unique transformation to say the least. Can you believe these light floors are Sapele wood? You must be wondering how they went from orange to blonde? Well, it was a process. The idea behind this project was to get rid off the orange tone due to a combination of the wood’s natural color and the oil base polyurethane that had been applied.

The dustless refinishing process helped to remove the old orange polyurethane however there was still pinkish tone in the wood the initial sanding process. What to do then?! We bleached the wood floors twice. The process was carefully done and the floors went from red/pink to blonde. After letting the bleach dry, we neutralized and finished the floors with Rubio Monocoat hardwax oil. The light floors now make the space feel bright and clean. We love the outcome, just like the homeowners did.

HAPPY CLIENT feedback

Marcos just finished refinishing our hardwood floors, and they are absolutely beautiful! Working with him has been the easiest part of a long remodel project. He communicated details in advance and always arrived on time. He finished the work in the exact time he estimated it would take. He and his crew were meticulous. They removed old floor vents and patched the holes. You cannot tell at all where the new wood comes into the old. When it came time to choose a color, they put the samples right there on the floor so we could see exactly what it would look like. I feared that the process would be very dusty, but Marcos uses excellent equipment and the dust was minimal, no problem at all. He used plastic to protect adjoining rooms from dust. His price was extremely fair. I received a bid from another company that was nearly twice as much, but I was not confident they could do the work. I'm so glad I went with CMC Hardwood Floors. I am thrilled with the floors and highly recommend Marcos! Kimberly S. - San Marcos, CA | 5 Star Review on Yelp

MORE HAPPY CLIENT feedback

Marcos and crew did a fantastic job sanding and refinishing our original 1950s hardwood floors inside, as well as our beat up wooden deck outside. Everything was on schedule and on time; the workers were absolutely professional and very nice. The results were amazing - never knew our floors could look so good. Thank you Marcos and CMC Hardwood!
