Laurel Canyon Hardwood Floor Refinishing | Bleached + Rubio Monocoat
This was a unique hardwood floor transformation to say the least. These light floors are Sapele wood. The clients of this Laurel Canyon hardwood floor refinishing project didn’t like the orange look and wanted to change them to a light-colored floor. The orange tone was due to a combination of the natural wood color and the oil-based hardwood floor finish that had been applied years ago, which had yellowed and darkened with age. The dustless refinishing process removed the old orange polyurethane; however, there was still a pinkish tone in the wood after the initial sanding. To combat that, we bleached the floors twice. The process was carefully done and the floors went from reddish-pink to blonde. After letting the bleach dry, we neutralized and finished the floors with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C hardwax oil. The light floors now make the space feel bright and clean. We love the outcome of this bleached wood floor in Laurel Canyon, as do the homeowners.

Marcos just finished refinishing our hardwood floors, and they are absolutely beautiful! Working with him has been the easiest part of a long remodel project. He communicated details in advance and always arrived on time. He finished the work in the exact time he estimated it would take. He and his crew were meticulous. They removed old floor vents and patched the holes. You cannot tell at all where the new wood comes into the old. When it came time to choose a color, they put the samples right there on the floor so we could see exactly what it would look like. I feared that the process would be very dusty, but Marcos uses excellent equipment and the dust was minimal, no problem at all. He used plastic to protect adjoining rooms from dust.
